About Laura Duffy

My relationship with healing touch began long before I ever thought of it as a profession. As a young child, I discovered the comfort and safety of touch sitting on my grandmother’s lap while she gently rubbed my back. In a family that wasn’t particularly physically affectionate, that simple act felt like love itself. Touch became my language of connection-and, unknowingly at the time, my calling. As I grew older, touch remained a constant thread in my life. I played games with my sister tracing words on each other’s backs. Later, as a mother of four, massage naturally became part of our bedtime routine-an intuitive way to soothe, ground, and connect.Years later, while working in a high-stress corporate environment, my body began speaking louder. Daily stress-induced migraines became impossible to ignore. One afternoon, during a lunchtime massage at a small practice near my office, something shifted. As the headache softened under the therapist’s hands, I experienced a clear, unmistakable knowing: this is the work I am meant to do.In 2001, while still working full-time and raising my children, I enrolled in a therapeutic massage program. It wasn’t easy-nights, weekends, deep commitment-but it was right. I graduated in 2002, transitioned out of the corporate world, and eventually opened my own private practice.Since then, I have devoted myself to the study of healing-body, mind, and spirit. With more than two decades in practice, my work has been shaped by ongoing education, hands-on experience, and deep listening. I draw from a wide range of modalities including Swedish and deep tissue massage, neuromuscular therapy, craniosacral therapy, orthopedic massage, manual lymph drainage, myofascial release, Reiki, Shiatsu, Thai massage, prenatal massage, cupping, and oncology massage. My practice integrates the techniques I’ve studied and adapts them to meet the individual needs of each client. I continue to study and evolve, guided by both formal training and the wisdom that comes from years of working with real bodies and real lives. My Approach & Who I Work WithI work with people who are living with discomfort, stress, or physical challenges-and who are looking for thoughtful, attentive care. Many clients come in with chronic aches and pains, stiffness, or restricted movement. Some are navigating the physical and emotional strain that can accompany complex health situations and are seeking supportive bodywork as part of their overall care. Others arrive after working with physical therapy or other medical providers, using massage therapy as a complementary approach to support recovery, resilience, and nervous system regulation. Some people come in with a very specific concern-a sore shoulder, a strained muscle, lingering tension from daily life or physical activity. Sessions are shaped around what’s present in the body that day, whether that calls for focused therapeutic work, gentle touch, or deep relaxation. My approach is collaborative and responsive. Each session is adapted to your body, your history, and your current needs. I work with clear communication, careful listening, and respect for your comfort at every step, creating a space where your body can settle and respond in its own time.Massage therapy is not a substitute for medical care, but it can be a valuable complement to other treatments and wellness practices. My massage therapy practice integrates skill, intuition, and respect for the whole person, creating a safe place for healing.Credentials & Professional Affiliations
